Clutter Clearing!
The first week of the 28 day soul coaching program deals with clearing your physical, mental and emotional clutter. For most of us, the task of clutter clearing takes much longer than a week, but the 28 day program really helps to get you started on a process that most of us wish to procrastinate about for as long as possible.
The clutter clearing week was interesting for me because I'm not much of a physical clutter girl to begin with. Having a family of six I am constantly straightening things up and clearing things out because when my surroundings get cluttered I actually feel a lot of anxiety. Some of you know that earlier this year I went on a major clutter clearing journey throughout my house.
I cleaned out Gillian's room and either threw out or gave away more than thirteen bags full of stuff. When I attacked Ben's room I did the same thing with twelve bags of things. Eric's and Hayden's room wasn't as bad because I am continuously sorting through their clothes and shoes as they are still babies and grow out of things very quicklly. Once I finished with the bedrooms upstairs I went through the attic storage and then through my kitchen. I put vacuum cleaners, glasses, pans, pitchers, toasters and many other things out for our yard sale in September. It was such a relief to get all of that stuff out of my house!
Its amazing how burdened we begin to feel when our stuff that we no longer have a use for begins to accumulate. Having done all of that earlier in the year I felt that I really didn't have any clutter left to clear when I started out this first week of the soul coaching program. I was amazed!
If I don't go through the mail everday and all of the paperwork that the children bring home from school my kitchen counter becomes full of piles. There are several drawerers in the kitchen that wind up being "catch alls". I found cords for devices that we no longer have, countless paper clips, screw drivers, old greeting cards and several unidentifiable items. It also turns out that the closet in my bedroom desperately needs to be organized again even though I did it a short time ago. The bottom line is, clutter clearing is a non-stop event!
It's healthy for me to understand that and I keep at it a little at a time each day. I'm mastering my physical clutter clearing abilities and with that I notice that my internal mental and emotional clutter becomes less intense. Have any of you clutter cleared lately?
Cheryl
