It's Spring!
I've been outside. I didn't forget about posting, but now that the sun is shining and my perennials are returning like old friends, the outdoors is calling me! Herbs like comfrey, valerian, elecampane and evening primrose are growing in leaps and bounds by the day and I'm beginning to think that I'll need to trim them even before I plant my annuals.
As I was contemplating the enormity of my comfrey I started to think that perennials are like past lives. They live, thrive, die and return again with a passion! Of course, they usually return in the same place and always at the same time of year, but it could be said that they are living a new life for a new season. They also never actually die. They simply lie dormant in the great cosmos of the ground until it is time to reappear and enjoy the sun.
The same way that we never die. We rejoin the great cosmic consciousness until we decide to drop into form once again. And just like my comfrey visits with my feverfew each year, so also are we reunited with old soul friends each time around. Isn't that cool?
